telecom - China Mobile still sticks to GSM

China's largest mobile mobile phone operator China Mobile prefers to expand its current GSM-network into 3G in stead of using the Chinese standard TD-SCDMA, Forbes reports, quoting the newswire Xinhua Finance.
For a while it looked like China Mobile had given up its resistance against the Chinese standard under political pressure and because the TD-SCDMA is expected to get a start ahead of the European and US standards for 3G.
Dai Zhong, deputy general manager of China Mobile, cites higher costs for the migration and a lack of choice of the available headsets for the preference of his company.
