internet - Google founders admit mistake in China censoring issue
Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the founders of Google, admitted yesterday in Davos the decision to launch a censored search engine for China has damaged their company, writes The Guardian. Google started in 2005 a special Chinese search engine with results that were censored according to what Google perceived to be the touchy issues in China.
The company, who carriers the slogan "don't be evil" faced a backlash from their customers who accused Google of being evil.
In China the censored edition never got much traction, since it was available next to the uncensored search engines. Earlier Brin has been hinting the Chinese search engine would be taken out of the air.
