Amazon keeps on refusing my business
I got little feedback on my complaint that Amazon was no longer shipping their books to China. One person actually used my weblog to order a book that I could not get.
So, to avoid any possible misunderstanding, I tried it again, on different addresses and always I got this message. Seems that I have to ship the books to people who might take it along in their luggage when they come to China.

The problem is that two of the books that you are ordering (the two that were refused)are not being sold by Amazon but by Amazon affiliated sellers. These sellers usually have different shipping policies than Amazon.com itself. If you look in the screen grab the one book you want to purchase from Amazon, The China Fantasy, they will ship to you. The other two books come from superbookdeals and video group distributors. Look right under the price tag of each book and you will see the line "sold by". As long as you shop from Amazon itslef and it's not electronics they will still ship to China.
I'm surprised you didn't check with a few other expats before you posted this.
I've lived here over three years, split roughly between BJ and QD, and I've found that Amazon orders were always able to reach me, even when I was in the process of moving. (I can't say this for the USPS/China Post combo.)
Amazon is extremely reliable here. I believe that "alexinchina" nailed it on the head. Hence, you just need to be aware of what you're ordering and whether or not it can be shipped to China. For books, it's NEVER a problem if Amazon is the supplier.
BTW, they almost always beat their claimed delivery dates, i.e., my shipments almost always arrive earlier that the expected date that they post.
Give it another try. Also, remember that you have to use a billing address that they can accept. If you use a U.S. billing address, you'll be fine; if you try to use a Chinese billing, I'm not sure if they'll take it. I know that the iTunes Library will not accept a billing address in China, but will accept one in the States. Of course, a lot of content cannot be purchased in China, but there are ways around this problem (like a VPN based in the States ... and TOR might get around this problem as well).

Eh, by posting it here I was asking for other viewpoints, so in that way your entry is more than welcome.
I have been ordering over Amazon in the past five years without any problems - without knowing there might be a difference between Amazon shipping directly or through third parties. I just clicked and got it.
Now, suddenly, in three cases my order is refused saying in rather generic terms my address is the problem (not the books I order).
Maybe I will order other books, maybe i give up: this is becoming a bit of a nuisance anyway when you have to find it out in such a cumbersome way.
