Not all university teachers reacted enthusiastically when they learned about a website rating their performances, reported the Shanghai Daily on April 14.
a few strongly worded opinions on the site have left some Shanghai teachers upset, while a lawyer yesterday warned that malicious comments could get the Website into trouble.The site Ping Laoshi, or "Criticize the teacher". Teachers are allowed to comment on the entries, if they register under their real name.
Already 30,000 university professors have been rated here, so whether those professors like it or not, there is certainly a demand for this website. It certainly fits into a long-standing Chinese tradition of attacking teachers.

“There are sites like this in the US, called 'Rate my Professor', with many different views of how effective, fair, etc. they are. But of course, in China, we got that lovely period from 66-76. Otherwise, I would think that it would be a good idea, especially, as in the states, the students could actually pick their own teachers or classes.”
I got some comments about linking here to the Chinese site, that would constitute a problem for those who do not read Chinese. I try as much as possible not to link to Chinese, Dutch, German or French sites, since they might not be helpful for most of my readers. But sometimes there is no way out and by linking those who can read the language can check whether my assesment is right. That is a secondary purpose of linking, but also important.
