A few weeks ago Dutch media reported that the Dutch national Olympic Committee and related travel organizations had bought 6,000 flight tickets for next year to Beijing, making it almost impossible for ordinary citizens to attend the olympic games in 2008 in Beijing unless they would take the train or start walking, I suggested.
Jan Vroomans from Tilburg in the Netherlands, aka the Walking Dutchman, is doing just that. He left the Netherlands already in 2007 to go east and recently had to make up his mind where in China he wanted to end. He decided to attend the Olympics in Beijing. Jan is currently in Kazakhstan nearing the Chinese border and maintains a weblog in Dutch, English and Russian.
