Yesterday I heard through Facebook that an interesting speaker would be at the Glamour Bar: 84-year Rena Krasno, born in Shanghai from Jewish parents and a local citizen until her family moved to Israel at the end of the 1940s.
Krasno read from Strangers Always: A Jewish Family in Wartime Shanghai and won very fast the hearts of the 100+ audience, about the maximum the Glamour bar could take for such an event. The lively anecdotes of a girl in Shanghai, not aware of what was happening in the world outside the city, were telling. Very many new first-hand stories I had never heard before.
