A week ago the new English channel of the Shanghai Media Group (SMG) was launched and the expectations were pretty high before the launch.
Michele Tung, or Dong Jiabao, even launched a weblog to go along with the program and asked me to comment on what is happening at the new channel.
There is no official website for the channel and that is of course a bad start when most of your potential viewers have a busy online life. I have been too busy to watch TV in the past week and there is no way to watch the programs after they have been broadcasted. I have met one person who watched five minutes of the opening ceremony and was less than flattering about it, but then five minutes might not be enough to write off a whole channel.
Tung's website does not show any of the programs yet and the online commenting community has been eerie silent on the new project.
Who has seen the program? What do you think of it?

It'd be great if they could archive their programs online. Then those of us here in the U.S. can also stay up to date with their show and I would be happy to feature or link to it from my China biz site.
I did not realize that for any media operation you have or start today _not_ having a firm online presence would be an option.
Just like The MR.X, others are not that watchable. Cheap talks everywhere. That's CSI. Haha...

Actually, most of their shows are produced by the same people who produce content for http://ChinaOnTV.com. Of course whatever they are airing now on ICS should be new, but if you want to see what kind of programming they produce you can find it at our website. They produce Bizwatch (Business Channel), Citybeat (Expat Channel), and Getaway (Travel Channel) Happy browsing!
Chinkerfly - this is Michele (or Dong Jiabao for my tv name)... chinaontv actually does not produce all the programmes. They have purchased rights to them from SMG. I know that because some of my City Beat clips that I produced with Dragon TV are on there.
