For the first time, employees in the PRC are entitled to paid annual leave (i.e., vacation pay). Under regulations that came into effect on January 1, 2008, employees who have worked more than one year and less than 10 years are entitled to five days of annual leave. Those who have worked at least 10 years but less than 20 years are entitled to 10 days. Finally, employees are entitled to 15 days once they have worked for at least 20 years.The question is of course whether workers are actually going to take it. I wonder.

Paid annual leave has started
The Chinese way of dealing with holidays has always caused a lot of discussions. I missed the recently introduced annual paid leave, introduced at the beginning of this year, truly a big change in China where all holidays tend to have been centrally organized. Annual leave may be centrally arranged within one year or in several periods and does not span more than one year in general. Companies may make such arrangement that spans more than one year if they have a genuine need for such arrangement due to production and job specialties.
