China out of grace as holiday destination

via WikipediaChina as a holiday destination has seen a record fall in interest, reports the ANVR, the Dutch lobby organizations for travel agents, according to the Dutch news agency Novum (in Dutch). The Olympic games in Beijing are seen as the major reason for the drop of 31 percent in inquiries for holidays to China this summer.
Another explanation could be the very cheap US dollar. Growth of the number of Dutch tourists to the United States is up 51 percent.
It was not clear whether those figures would represent a global trend, but there are more signals that the Olympics drive up hotel prices and tickets to China.
