China's wage indicator, one of my pet-projects, has added new functions to its site, including the questionnaire, the core of the project. The academic project, already active in 35 countries, collects information on wages and labor conditions.
In China the team, led by professor Yi Dinghong of Renmin Daxue, will focus first on getting wage information on Beijing and later expand to other parts of the country. To get a scientific viable result they will both get information online and offline. Later individual internet users will be able to compare their salary to the database.
To attract visitors to the site, apart from the possibility to win a trip to South Africa, a so-called VIP-check has started. There you can see what celebrities like the Pope, George Bush and others are earning. I'm currently helping them to get also some Chinese celebrities in this ranking.
