TV-viewers in Guangdong report that they have problems in receiving signals from Phoenix and the English-language ATV. Problems started last weekend and disappeared after complaints, but seem to be back again this weekend. Both channels only broadcast commercials.
My sources claim it is probably due to the Olympics, but would be very much at odds with the promise that foreign media would be able to operate without problems.

Around 18 o'clock the normal programming continued again. It seems that the signal is only interrupted during the morning and midday. According to Topway it's beyond their control and the ads are inserted at the provincial level.
Dongguan cable routinely substitutes commercials in the English language versions of Pearl and World. Mid day, count on hour long infomercials. And in the evening, count on rather long adverts for face wash and slimming underwear.
We've complained, but the local cable operator says they do it to make money.
