John SimpsonWikipediaAmazing footage by BBC's John Simpson (you can see it here) about father Yang, who is running an illegal church in Beijing and was taken away by the police to avoid him talking to the foreign media. Simpson goes after the priest and when he arrives in his temporary residence, Mr. Yang has been taken away again.
Over his mobile phone Mr. Yang (that has not been taken away by the police) he keeps on sending his coordinates to the BBC-crew. When they arrive at the premises where Mr. Yang is kept, the gates are closed very fast, but Simpson sees Mr. Yang in one of the open windows and the interview starts before a closed front gates, while Mr. Yang is not being stopped from starting the interview over his mobile phone.
Truly amazing footage, because it shows China in action. Mr. Yang is later released, Simpson tells us, but that was probably not heroic enough to show.
