internet - "Why did Google not listen to us?"

The story of Google in China keeps on rolling and today two of the opinion leaders on the Chinese internet ended their analysis with the same compelling question: why did Google not listen to the Chinese internet users?
Isaac Mao does not buy the argument that Google can be stopped.
Before Google formally operated in China, they didn't need any self-censorship or self-castration. The protest of Internet users successfully released a blockage by China government in 2003 when Google had not hired anyone in China. ... Google service won't be totally blocked, trust me. The Internet users won't allow that.
Andrew Lih reports that the media reports about what Google-founders Brin and Page have said in Davos. They have not been listening to the right people:
As for Brin's decision, it is interesting that talking to some "human rights" people helped him shape his current thinking. But I would suggest he should talk to more than just "three or four" folks about this.
