internet - Looking for the right office software

One of the tasks keeping me inside this weekend, while the weather looks really inviting, is that our new venture has to decide about some decent office software for our operation. We are now getting databases in place, might have in the end four, five offices and I have lost already too much time in working on spreadsheets that were already outdated.
I'm going to bother you a bit with my quest; do not shy back from any useful comments.
Now we are using Google Docs for our exchanges of spreadsheets and documents, but it feels a little bit primitive. Our future US partner is not using any online software, so we are here in China on ourselves.
A first orientation was rather shocking.
First, I got from my online network this website, listing over 1,200 Web2.0 office applications. Needless to say that this overwhelmed me a bit, even after I could bring it back to 45 websites with office solutions. It listed Google Docs (although still called writely.com, its original name). I could not find the SharePoint services of Microsoft, a solution suggested by my technical people.
One of the 45 websites also rang a bell, since my colleague Maria Trombly had told me she uses the application and it very happy about it: dabbledb.
It actually has a very nice explaining video, although the broken cables are still hampering the experience. On top of that, independent reviews are very positive about the service, although it might cost some money.
Any feedback before I turn to the remaining 43 services?

Update: For the time being ThinkFree has the best cards, all the functionality I need, good reviews. And it is for free.
