Yu Hai in action

economy - Sponsors pay for Chinese soccer players in the Netherlands

I needed a long talk with one of my more sportive friends to figure out that this could make sense. A whole bunch of Chinese soccer players got contracts in the Netherlands. Vitesse just signed a two-year contract with Yu Hai, PSV got Sun Xiang and there might be more in the works.
In Dutch media those clubs now explain that these Chinese players of course have their qualities but were also very cheap because investors in China pay the costs.
This is how it works. They hope of course those players will perform very well in the Dutch clubs and that might trigger off interest among the Chinese media. In that way they can promote their products indirectly to the Chinese consumers.
My expert says it makes sense. The article does not mention any company names, but I guess Philips would be a good guess and otherwise we have to check the fields of Vitesse and PSV/
