China global leader in porn revenue?

Figures and China are a difficult combination, I have argued more than once. But this is an interesting one. According to this research China is leading in porn, followed by South-Korea, Japan and only then the US.
The total revenue stream for China is US$27.4 billion and that results in a per capita expenditure of about US$ 27. Why is that number not true? First, the porn industry is illegal, so whatever there might be in revenue will be very hard to verify.
Second, that illegal porn is free or very cheap. If you are in China, just look out of the window: do you see somebody passing by who would spend 300 Renminbi on porn? Seems very unlikely.
As a former historian I checked of course the footnotes, but the researcher only says they come from reliable sources. Yes, of course. Like his research.

Yes, this study bothers me (since China and Korea are at the top). The researchers offer NO justification, no real sources, and do not explain variables or reasons why particulars starts may be skewed. I hope people do not take this for fact.

I've noticed this strange statistics too. I'm currently doing research in to it but can't find much other sources.

I think a big part of Chinese revenue is from sex toys and condoms. But cant think of much else that would bash it up to 27 billion!

Could you please tell me if you find anything more in to this.

Porn is illegal in South Korea so I have no idea how the revenue can be so high. On top of that South Korea is very much a internet nation so it's possible that they can download porn but down load it free since it is illegal to purchase porn. I visited South Korea and it's not like they have porn stores or sell XXX DVD because all of that is illegal. I think the numbers are very wrong.
